film picture 2

Thursday the 5th of June 2014 at 7pm

Wharf Chambers, 23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds, LS2 7EQ

This groundbreaking and award-winning documentary explores the awakening conscience of several people who grew up in a traditional farming culture and who have now come to question the basic assumptions of their way of life.
With strikingly honest interviews and rare footage demonstrating the emotional lives and intense family bonds of animals most often viewed as living commodities, this film shatters stereotypical notions of farmers, farm life and farmed animals themselves. A Tribe of Heart Documentary.

A free vegan buffet will be provided (including vegan cakes!)

It’s a large annual event to raise awareness of animals in laboratories. There’s usually a march, stalls, speeches and food and it’s a great way to meet other animal rights activists. This year it’s being held in Nottingham, transport from the Leeds and Sheffield areas is being organised.
Here’s the facebook page for the coach from Leeds:

Of course you can make your own way there too 🙂

Badger Cull

As you’re probably aware the government has used badgers as a scapegoat for the spread of bovine TB. They’ve given the go ahead for a mass cull of badgers in certain areas of England. Sadly that cull has begun. But there is something you can do to help save these badgers. Join or support your local sab group: West Yorkshire Sabs.  Sabs go to the cull zones and take action to directly save badgers. If you’d like to join them email us at:      wyanimalrights@gmail.com      and we’ll put you in contact.

Alternatively you can donate money to them so that they have enough fuel to take people down to the cull zones in the south of England.         Click here to donate to West Yorkshire Sabs.

Earthlings event

On Saturday the 24th of August 2013 an event was held in Leeds to raise awareness of animal exploitation. The event was inspired by the film “Earthlings” which you can watch for free here:  Earthlings website

Dogs4Us demos

Every week we hold demos at Dogs4Us in Leeds.

Their address is:

Dogs4Us
Waterloo Way
Bramley
Leeds
LS13 2EF

Dogs4Us was exposed on Sky and Channel 5 news buying puppies from cruel puppy farms where dogs are kept in dark windowless sheds and treated like breeding machines forced to breed puppies so places such as Dogs4Us can make a profit. See the footage here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS0u1DM5ndk

If you’d like to help out at our demos, or just find out more information, email us at: wyanimalrights@gmail.com
